The Return of Q-Tip

I'm in the studio right now working on my latest mixtape, Volume 4 of the 'This Is How We Do' series but i had to take time out to listen to this baby which i've got my hands on - 'The Renaissance' the new album from Q-Tip. Old school meets New school, damn this album is insane, i can't stop bopping my head.

Its officially out on November 4th and its worth the wait!! It's exactly what i was expecting from him, he takes it back to his old roots.

He has just finished filming the video for the next single 'Move' my favourite track on the album.

Appearances include J Dilla, Norah Jones, D'Angelo, Raphael Saadiq and Amanda Diva.

This track has been getting a hell of alot of daytime spins and spins by the specialists on the radio, i think i played it twice on my Podcasts and that was about a month ago. Fair to say i haven't been feeling this track as much as other people, no doubt about it though its a great radio track and also a good one to drop in the clubs for the ladies!

MTV were in the building casting for the UK series of 'Super Sweet 16' funnily enough i bumped into the woman on the right again just last night as i was down at a Super Sweet 16 which they were filming, it was the most fake thing i have ever seen & extreamly scripted!


Award winning break dancers were in the place! They killed it!

What A Weekend!

Sorry for the lack of post over the past 5 days... it's been abit crazy for me!
Heres the lowdown...

Friday night was all about 'Fresh' at Winkers, i was deejaying with Ultra MC, he had that smash Channel U and MTV Base track 'Perfect Girl' which he performed live along with hosting too.



Saturday i had other business aside from music to attend to!

Sunday i was up at 8.30am to head up to Donnington Park in Nottingham for the annual BPM event. BPM showcases all the latest in DJ technology and also has all of the biggest names down there such as Pioneer, Denon and DMC. I headed straight for the DMC stand where i watched Skully do his thing! Shouts to DJ Cable, Switch, Loop Skywalker, Rafik (who i haven't caught up with since winning the CK ONE event last November) and the legend Cutmaster Swift. It was big! Oh and you know that mixer that Semtex rocks on Dizzie's tour? The SVM 1000, i tried it out and its illllll!!







Monday night was the Young DJ of The Year competition, i was up against 2 other big under 18 DJ's. In the house was MTV, Models 1 and the cast of Hollyoaks. I was up 2nd and i killed it! I was soso nervous, i was up infront of thousands of screaming people... the last thing i wanted to do was clear the floor! So i won and got the prize of a Wii given to me by 'Kiran' from Hollyoaks... i don't actually watch it so i didn't have a clue who he was but still. The rest of the prize included contacts with London's biggest promoters... keep it locked on here for more info! So its official, i am the Young DJ of The Year 2008!

Im such a massive fan of Day 26, i was hooked on Making The Band 4 on MTV and their album is massive!

My man Swerve hooked up with them on his Tuesday night show on KISS.

So like i said last week i got a nice signed copy of the new Joe Thomas album 'New Man.'



So far im feeling it alot!

Tracks to listen out for include: E.R, New Man and Why Just Be Friends. There are 19 tracks.. these days thats alot for an album, most people just put 14 tracks on recently!



Still need to listen to the whole thing but belive me its worth copping, if you love your R&B then you need this in your life!

I seriously hate what the media has done to Britney, she makes good pop records, shes good at what she does!

Beyonce is back! Yeaah!

Check out her new video for 'If I Were A Boy', this is the first of 2 singles she will be releasing off her new album 'I Am'.



My personal opinion... hmm.. it's not THAT bad, but i do like the video!

Her second single will be 'Single Ladies (Put a Ring On)' which is a typical Beyonce style of track, sounds abit like 'Get Me Bodied', more upbeat and good for the radio too! I'll be playing both tracks on upcoming Podcasts!

DJ Swerve Interviews Joe

My man Swerve had a busy busy show this week (Tuesday nights 9-11 on KISS FM). He had Day 26 in from MTV's 'Making The Band 4' and then Mr Joe Thomas popped in for a quick chat on his new album which i won a signed copy of on the show! Props to Chis B the producer!!



Joe's album is sounding hot! Check out the track 'Man In Your Life' which uses the samples from Nas' 'Hero'.

The video has dropped! Looking doooope!!! It premiered on Ellen, a station in the US which i have never heard of ill be honest! Anyway its a strong video and i love the concept...

One word - BIG!

Been looking for this album for a long time and it didn't dissapoint. Its out today (Monday) but i got it sent over on Sunday morning and had it on repeat all day - i just couldn't get enough of it. My favourite tracks thus far are: Fit 4 A King, Silver & Gold (featuring Akon) and Walk Away.

So in just 2 weeks 2 massive UK artists have dropped sick albums.

Cop it please, support the UK movement.
